Channing Tatum is set to star in Disney’s remake of the 1984 romantic comedy Splash that boasts one very enticing catch: this new version will reverse the sexes of the two leads, with the Magic Mike actor embodying the mermaid, played by Daryl Hannah in the original. Jillian Bell, the comedian who starred alongside Tatum as the villain in 22 Jump Street, will portray the mermaid’s love interest – first played by Tom Hanks – according to Deadline.
Channing Tatum‘s planned “Gambit” movie is still in the cards, according to the film’s writer and producer Simon Kinberg. Gambit is looking to start filming in spring 2017. “Gambit” was originally supposed to be released in the fall of 2016, but Twentieth Century Fox bumped it from the schedule back in February. We don’t have a new release date.
“We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning or spring of next year,” Kinberg told.
Gambit is a fan favorite in the Marvel Universe. Gambit, whose real name is Remy LeBeau, is a reformed thief who joined up with the X-Men. He is known for his Cajun drawl and smooth-talking way with women. His mutant ability allows to him charge objects with kinetic energy, thus making them explode on contact. His trademark weapon is a deck of playing cards, which he can throw with deadly accuracy.
